Catalyst-Maria received a grant from Project Lead the Way to implement a program of study for 6th - 12th grade scholars in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)

Congratulations! You have been selected by the Darden Foundation to receive a Restaurant Community Grant!
We’re excited to receive a grant from our local Olive Garden and Red Lobster to advance our work in introducing Catalyst-Maria scholars to college! This grant helps us take our scholars to a variety of college campuses and to introduce them to college life.
In the letter we received from the Darden Foundation, they said:
Our restaurant teams are excited to be a part of the meaningful work that your organization does every day to ensure the vibrancy and well-being of your community.
Darden’s Restaurant Community Grants program is a local grants program that helps support nonprofit organizations focused on the issues of access to post-secondary education, preservation of natural resources or hunger, in the hundreds of communities Darden and its restaurant brands serve. We are proud to support your project and honored to partner with you.
THANK YOU DARDEN FOUNDATION!

The country pauses as its citizens live a sacred ritual - voting.
The Catalyst Schools expects scholars to become engaged citizens and agents of change. In this spirit, the campuses also offer all students an opportunity to cast their ballots for their choice of a man to be President of the United States. They learn what a sacred duty we have and how the ability to vote cannot be taken for granted and must be preserved.
We all wait for the outcome.
Catalyst-Maria has completed hiring both the High School and the Elmentary School teams. Teachers and staff are currently participating in orientation and training and will be ready for the opening day for high school scholars on August 20, 2012 and for elementary school scholars on August 27, 2012. The building at 6727 S. California Ave., Chicago, IL 60629 is in the process of being rehabbed and will be ready for opening in August. Rehab includes renovations to bathrooms and locker rooms so that they accommodate boys and young men. Changes also include a total digital renovation so that the entire campus will be wireless. Smart boards and white boards will be installed in classrooms. The building, constructed in the 1950s is on target to be a 21st century educational center.
