Students of Mrs. Drake and Ms. Nunley's 6th grade class (Catalyst -- Howland Charter School) are definitely moving in the right direciton. Not only are they great students but they are also growing into mature young men and women. They graduated from the G.R.E.A.T. Program that educates youth on the negative effects of gang affiliation and empowers them with the tools needed to resist actual affiliation. The Catalyst Schools, Howland Charter (CSHC) is currently accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year. You are invited to swing by to see why Howland Charter might be a great fit for your young student. The open house will include a tour of the CSHC facilities and the opportunity to talk with educators about the Catalyst experience.

This is the time of year when families with children ready for kindergarten are searching for good schools and filling out applications. It makes sense, then, that the Catalyst Schools—Howland Charter is out in the community letting everyone know that their children will receive not only great academic preparation but also support for a solid core foundation in values.

Students at the Catalyst Schools—Howland Charter just finished taking the ISAT and STEP exams, the annual State of Illinois benchmark tests that will tell the school how well it is doing in helping the students grow academically.
